My partner and I are looking to renovate our old weatherboard cottage and I’m trying to not get too excited and do everythingIwanttodoallatonce. I’m thinking of stripping back a lot of the overly ornamental elements (bowtie lace curtains… yeeech) and introducing some smart black, white and charcoal tones. Pair that with espresso limewash timber floors, orange accents and some vintage elements ala my Luke post from yesterday and I’m hoping we will have a winner!
These are some of my mood images that I’ve added to, deleted and edited out rather obsessively.
Now… just waiting for the pricing to come in.
Are these not the most gorgeous light shades you’ve ever seen. True, kinda girly, but sexy, hand made black lace just equals gorgeous. I’m a big fan of non standard light fittings, and anything with a refined, yet hand made touch just makes it that much better.
These are available U.K. based designers brownehsieh, though perhaps a weekend DIY session could produce something equally gorgeous?

Interesting concept or gimmick? This is a proposal for an LED ceiling treatment with a ‘light brush’ (basically a laser pointer) which can turn LEDs on and off, thus creating custom patterns and lights on our ceiling.
I imagine it could look really messy and childish though a black and while installation could look good. I’m thinking Space Invader ceiling personally…
dedece is a very shiny, generally pretty pricy design/furniture/lighting company which stocks some of the most classic design pieces in the world (such as Tom Dixon lights and Platner tables to name a couple).
Last year I discovered dedece+ courtesy of one of the people I work with and instantly my credit card cowered in fear. On a similar vein to Better Living Through Design, this is a website dedicated to pretty things. However there is a LOT more affordable stuff on here, and while the website can be a little tricky to navigate once you’ve got it you’ll be sorted.
Search for design, type of product (from lighting to jewelery to bar ware to bins), by price or see what’s on special.
